Kieryn Nicolas
Biography:
I am 15 years old and in 10th grade, taking Advanced and Honors coursework. My debut YA spy/coming of age novel, Rain, was published by Quake (Echelon Press LLC) this year. My short story, Poison Ivy, will be released by Echelon Press in the next few months. I attended the Pennsylvania State University’s Young Writer’s Workshop in July 2009, earning college credit. I have spoken at numerous libraries and schools, and was invited to be this year’s visiting author at Wauconda High School in Illinois this October.
I have multiple works-in-progress and get new ideas all the time, especially when my mind wanders during class. I’ve been studying Taekwondo for two years (I’m a senior brown belt with two belts to go before black), and I love to swing dance. Instead of a “sweet 16” I am training to do a half marathon with Team in Training, raising money to fight blood cancers, in honor of my grandfather (a lymphoma survivor).
