Shadow Marsh by Caroline BourneAnna Rose St. Cyr, determined to hold her family plantation, was more woman than most men could handle. The headstrong southern belle had a mind of her own and she could not deny that she’d met her match in handsome Morgan York. After hiring the mysterious stranger as foreman of her Louisiana plantation, she could think of nothing except his lean hard body pressed against hers, the strength of his arms around her, and the taste of passion on his lips.

Morgan York would not be tamed. He kept his heart, scarred, shielded from any who tried, but something burned bright in the emerald eyes of Anna St. Cyr. He sensed rebellion and wildness in her soul that brought out emotions he thought long dead and threatened to consume him. With each passing day, he grew more obsessed with her southern sensuality, and captivated with her response to his touch. Knowing that his past could mean the destruction of their future, he vows to hear her call out his name as makes her his own.

Meet Caroline Bourne

Caroline Bourne was born in Southampton, England to an American father and an English mother. Spending only seven months in England, she grew up in the small southern town of Lecompte, Louisiana, in between transfers to Army posts in Texas and Arkansas with her Army father. She was an avid horse lover and spent many hours on horseback, riding with a group of friends on weekends. Graduating from Lecompte High School in 1965 she went on to spend two years in the United States Marine Corps, being honorably discharged as a Corporal E-4 in 1967. Returning to Louisiana, she went to work for a local newspaper, the Alexandria Daily Town Talk, eventually married and had two daughters, Kristen and Kimberly. Her first novel was published in 1984 by Kensington and 12 others, plus a co-authorship and two contributions to anthologies followed. As the years passed, she worked for lawyers and judges, and eventually moved to Indiana to be near her sister. For the past fourteen years she has worked for a Southern Indiana police department. Today, she is the grandmother of six granddaughters and one great-grandson. You can visit with Caroline on Facebook.

After being dumped by her faithless fiancé, Claire Spencer has abandoned her dreams of a family of her own tucked neatly inside a picket fence. Instead, she’s plotting her solo course and settling for a quiet life as an independent Williamsburg shop owner. So how does she become a killer’s target?

Sometime security consultant Riley, burned out, disillusioned, and haunted by a young girl he couldn’t save, vows never to work with women again. But when a thug tries to kill the friend of a friend, the woman winds up in his arms, and all Riley’s plans go to hell. Knowing she’s in danger, he can’t walk away.

While dodging speeding cars, ducking bullets, and escaping through murky swamp waters, conventional Claire and freewheeling Riley struggle against their powerful chemistry—if she’s picket fences, he’s barbed wire.

Opposites do attract.

Who is Ellis Vidler?

As a child in the South, I spent long, hot days imagining myself an Indian or pioneer or musketeer. At night I (and my whole family) read. From Geronimo and D’Artagnan to Anne Shirley and Nancy Drew, I lived them all. No angst in my childhood. Later I became the glamorous Scarlett O’Hara (a stretch, I admit). So where did that leave me as an adult? Writing fiction, what else? I love creating characters and making them do what I want, but mostly they take off on their own and leave me hurrying to catch up.

All my stories have some degree of romance and a lot of suspense. My first book, published by Silver Dagger Mysteries, was Haunting Refrain. The second was The Peeper, a suspense novel co-authored with retired LEO Jim Christopher. (That was a trip, let me tell you!) And now, Cold Comfort, my new romantic suspense.

I’ll continue to write as I can dream.
